Welcome to Des Moines Figure Skating Club!
The mission of the Des Moines Figure Skating Club (DMFSC) is to provide programs to encourage community-wide participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating. DMFSC is dedicated to providing a fun and safe experience and great activities for the entire family in promoting health and physical fitness. Members of DMFSC participate in private lessons, local exhibitions and shows, competitions, test sessions, social and team building activities, and more!
DMFSC is a non-profit organization sanctioned under USFS. A portion of each DMFSC member’s dues is forwarded to USFS for enrollment.
DMFSC is dedicated to the advancement, practice, and instruction of the sport of figure skating in the Central Iowa community. The club is a proud member of U.S. Figure Skating since 1955. For more than 60 years, DMFSC has helped members of all ages and abilities in the central Iowa community to develop their skills as competitive and recreational skaters. Competitive members of our organization have trained locally and participated in local, state, regional and national competitions.
DMFSC is comprised of dedicated parent/guardians and volunteers, determined skaters, and experienced coaches - all of whom support a family-oriented environment and a strong fellowship within the club, as well as the surrounding community. DMFSC members can also participate in USFS- sanctioned competitions, take any USFS test, and receive a copy of Skating magazine (published monthly by USFS).
DMFSC is governed by a board of directors with a president, a vice president, a secretary, a treasurer, and at-large members. An election is held in the spring of each year. Board members serve on a 2 year term. The board establishes basic policy and protocols of the club. These policies are updated as needed.
Board meetings are held monthly on the second Sunday of the month, and general members are welcomed and encouraged to attend these meetings.
A DMFSC club member must comply with the club bylaws, rules, and regulations. In addition, members are encouraged to volunteer in ways that are meaningful and manageable to them. Volunteer opportunities include winter and spring shows, social events, recruitment events, member relations and more!
